Kenana Knitters is a self-supporting knitting co-operative that pays a fair wage. In addition to their sales, Kenana funds a range of welfare projects in Njoro: education, eye tests, health and HIV/Aids counselling.
Their range is hand knitted out of wool that is purchased locally in Kenya from another artisan group. The wool is homespun and dyed with vegetable dyes from their gardens. Minimal equipment is required to knit these products proving this to be a community committed to environmentally friendly practices.
Each distinctive design is a hand-crafted Kenyan creation and bears the
signature of the woman who made it.
