Made to Measure Roller Blinds

We have many striped fabrics perfect for Roller Blinds

Striped roller blinds are particularly stunning. Stripes on fabrics are completely timeless and unlike bolder patterned fabrics, you will never tire of them. Thick or thin, vertical or horizontal, in living colour, or in black and white, stripes are like a magnet for the eyes, making your striped roller blinds an instant focal point.

We can create striped roller blinds for kitchens, which offer finishes in grey, black and white stripes and are all finished to a luxury standard.

Our bespoke striped roller blinds are made to measure hand finished and delivered to your door within 8 weeks of your order.

Queen Victoria made stripes popular, after dressing her son Bertie in a striped sailor suit and this started the connection of stripes with words such as “marine” and “sea”. While the blue and white striped fabric combo may take us back to summer days at the seaside; the thin black and white striped fabric has a way of transporting us to the cityscape. Whether you use them in your home in a traditional way or in a totally modern and contemporary way, decorating with striped roller blinds is a great way to bring some order to your room. While it's hard to remember a time when we didn't love striped material, the bold linear pattern is certainly back in a big way.

They have the power to reshape an interior depending on how they're used; they add a crisp, polished feel to a space. Best of all, striped fabrics mix beautifully with plains, florals, and other patterns meaning they can be used just about anywhere. Striped soft furnishing fabrics can be elegant when they're tone-on-tone or wild when they're bright and bold and also classic when the stripes are the same width. Here are some ideas for you from our collections: Stockholm Stripe, French Ticking, Simple Ticking Detail, Floral Stripe, Malmo, Lapland, Nordic and Scandi Stripes, and Stripe and Dash.

How to incorporate stripy designs around the house

Bright striped pattern fabric for blinds looks very smart, Scandinavian, nautical and informal. You can use stripes as a beautiful trim on the bottom borders of blinds. YOU CAN EVEN PUT STRIPES ON THE FLOOR - Use our stripey rugs on your floors which are made using 100% British wool. Super versatile and highly durable, this is a quick way to give a room a fresh and updated look. Stripes are one the best and most versatile patterns to work, decorate and design with and they're incredibly functional and fashionable. So, why not use them on your floors?

What can be done with stripes?

Our stripes come in all my different colours. Vanessa mixes Teal blue with Lime green, Damson pink with Charcoal grey, and many more!

The striped options available are: Stockholm Stripe, Simple Ticking Detail, French Ticking, and Stripe and Dash. Remember we can make as well as blinds, curtains, cushions, footstools, quilts, headboards, sofas, lampshades and chairs for you in any of our striped fabrics.

We also have a range of Scandinavian woven stripes, woven on hand looms in a beautiful mid weight Linen. These make fresh and pretty roller blinds and can be made with blackout lining if you want to filter out the light. They also make wonderful processed blinds where you see the same pattern on the front and back for double-sided fabrics, such as the Baltic or Lapland Stripe.

What other patterns complement and contrast with your striped fabric?

These striped fabrics look great contrasted with the spots of Pretty Maids. Also, each stripe is designed to coordinate with the other prints in the collections to which they belong…for instance my Stockholm Stripe with Dawn Chorus and French Ticking with Flora and Fauna; equally baltic Stripe with sweat pea and more.

Pros for choosing Roller Blinds:

GREAT FOR INSIDE A RECESS – Roller Blinds are a great option if you want to install a blind inside a recess because they are really easy to fit, lightweight, practical, easily adjustable with beaded chains (or ivory cord), and visually very stylish.

PELMETS - if you have your blind inside a recess, you can choose to have a smart, perfectly pattern matched pelmet that covers the roll at the top revealing the reverse lining; this is approximately 11 cm deep. It has revolutionised the use of Roller Blinds, making them much more attractive and usable in all rooms of a house!

MAXIMUM LIGHT – if you want to allow in as much natural light as possible, Roller Blinds may be the better option over Roman Blinds. With Roller Blinds, the fabric rolls up at the top of your window and will take up about 9 cm of space.

CENTRAL PULL – with a Roller Blind you can have a centre pull which can be handy on a window behind the kitchen sink. This comes with an ivory coloured cord and wooden acorn.

LOWER MAINTENANCE – once you have pulled up a Roman Blind you sometimes have to handle the folds as they can get caught in the cords, you don’t have this problem with Roller Blinds. It is just one piece of fabric that is adjusted with either a continuous beaded chain to either the left or right hand side of the blind, or as previously mentioned, a centre pull.

TREATMENT OPTIONS - We offer three different finishings on our Roller Blinds: Laminate, Blackout, and Processed. The laminated backing is a lining bonded onto the face of the fabric (no lamination takes place to the face fabric). Blackout is an off-white lining, which again is bonded to the fabric but is ideal for privacy. And Processed is just the fabric on its own with that has a clear stiffening spray applied to it for rigidness.

STYLISH IN DESIGN - You have a lot of creative freedom when it comes to the finished look of your Roller Blind. In addition to a pelmet, you can also add a 5 cm contrasting bottom border. Any of our other fabrics can be used for this, for example Gypsy Garland in Dove, with a bottom border in Stockholm Stripe - Dove, Winter. You could also opt for a Plain Linen Union in Saffron border instead, to go with the Gypsy, depending on the other colours in your room. The choice is yours to coordinate as you see fit!

Also, if you can’t reach the top of the window at all easily, a Roller Blind with a pelmet to hide the roll might be the right choice as you will have no need to reach the top ever. The maximum size for roller and roman blinds is 240cm x 240cm.

All these can be made for you through our Made to Measure service.

All these fabrics are printed in the UK on a good weight of 100% Linen and Linen Union and are suitable for curtains, blinds, cushions, lampshades and upholstery. We hold a good stock of all our fabrics ensuring delivery is usually within 3-5 working days with an overnight service available. The same team, who take you order will roll, inspect and cut it, so accuracy and quality can be assured.

How to measure up for your Roller Blind:

Inside a window recess

Width: Measure the width of the recess from the left to the right (see E on the diagram)

Length: Measure from the top of the recess to the bottom (see E on the diagram)

YOU ONLY NEED TO PROVIDE US WITH THE FULL RECESS MEASUREMENT - the maker will allow for the rolling mechanism when making the blinds (There will be a gap of about 1.5cm between the fabric and the recess wall which will allow some light through, even with a blackout lining)

Outside a window recess

Width: Measure the outside of the window recess (see F on diagram) and add at least 5cms on each side to minimise any light leaking through.

Length: Measure from the required position above the window (we recommend adding at least 5cm), to the length you require (see F on the diagram)

This also applies to blinds that will be fitted to the outside of a door recess, we only need the width and length that you would like the finished blind to be.

Please note that if your roller blind is outside the recess, we have to allow for the mechanism at either side of the roller blind, which is usually 1.5cm each side. For example, if you want the fabric width of your blind to measure 100cm, you need to specify this upon placing your order as 'finished fabric width', otherwise our makers will assume it is the recess width, and cut the fabric down to 97cm with the remaining 3cm for the mechanism, i.e. 100cm full fabric width + 3cm for mechanism, making the final recess width 103cm.

Your Roller blinds will be delivered complete with hanging instructions and fittings.
