Made to Measure Roman Blinds

What fabric should I choose for a large or big window?

Larger prints such as For the Love of Rose, Herbaceous Border Detail, Gypsy Garland, and Cow Parsley make wonderful Roman Blinds for larger windows.

For a more subtle pattern, the Shibori is a quieter look for a large window, Vanessa's particular favourite is Shibori - Light Pigeon and Saffron.

Simple Ticking Detail is a very subtle stripe which is frequently chosen for very large windows, with its cream background it is easy on the eye and doesn't take too much light from the windows nor does it make too much of a statement.

Small spotty prints such as May Blossom, Sepals and Petals, and Pretty Maids will suit any style and size of window.

For a large window, you must choose to have your blind made on a metal track which will cope with the weight, enabling it to be pulled up and down easily.

Remote controlled blinds

We can make remote controlled blinds, please phone or email us to enquire further.

How big can you make a roman blind?

The largest Roman Blind we make on a wooden batten is 130cm wide x 150cm drop.

For Rotary Chain Tracks, the maximum would be 240cm wide x 240cm drop.

Can you make large blackout blinds?

We can certainly make roman and indeed roller blinds with blackout lining; this is an off-white colour.

HOW TO MEASURE UP FOR YOUR ROMAN BLINDS

INSIDE A WINDOW RECESS

Width: Measure across the recess at several points and give the narrowest measurement minus 1cm for clearance so the blind will run freely (see E on the diagram)

Length: Measure from the top of the recess to the bottom (see E on the diagram)

OUTSIDE A WINDOW RECESS

Width: Measure the width of the recess and add at least 5cms on each side for overlapping (see F on the diagram)

Length: Measure from the required starting position above the window to the length you require, adding 5cms on the length
