Which shades of blue do you have in your fabric range for curtains?

Blue is a favourite colour for many people. It calls to mind feelings of calmness and serenity, research has shown that people are more productive in blue rooms!

There are of course many different shades of blue as with all colours; from the cooler shades of Cornflower and Indigo; Cornflower has a 'blue jeans' tone, to the softest shades of Lake Blue velvet curtains and Speedwell. Other blues include Smoke, a green/blue that works perfectly with yellows, or Soft Cornflower, Teal and Powder Blue, there are lots to choose from!

One of Vanessa's favourites is Teal blue, a nice warmer tone of blue. Great for Roman Blinds in day rooms such as a kitchen: Up the Garden Path, Branching Out, By the Sea, In Full Flight, and Cow Parsley designs all come in this colour along with stripes and spots to coordinate.

Next comes a lighter tone, another of Vanessa's favourites, a Chinese blue called Powder Blue, as seen in the In Full Flight, Sepals and Petals, Fruit Garden, and Pretty Maids. Speedwell is a soft and gentle tone making pretty blue Roman Blinds for bedrooms and bathrooms, exemplified in Fern and Dragonfly, Wild Fern, Little Fern, and Swallow Dive.

For very soft grey blues, we move into the ever-popular Duck Egg. The Cow Parsley, Plain Dotty, Acornf and Leaf, and Stripe and Dash designs are the most popular in this shade.

What other colours do blue curtains go well with?

There are many other colours you can team with blue, namely Saffron yellow, Raspberry red, Marigold and Pumpkin oranges, and Damson pinks. These are all warm colours which to complement the cooler blue so well.

We combine these colours already for you in the following designs, in particular: Pretty Maids, Stockholm Stripe, Fruit Garden, May Blossom, and Lattice Leaf.

You can also add in the second colour through upholstered furniture, cushions, or even in a fabric covered lampshade or bed quilt.

Please ask for fabric samples and see the colours in your rooms. If you order a half metre returnable sample you can drape them over your existing blinds, or just in situ to where the blind will go, and see how it looks. All our fabrics are printed in the UK on a good weight of 100% Linen, and Linen Union, making them suitable for lampshades, curtains, blinds, cushions and upholstery. We hold a good stock of all our fabrics ensuring delivery is usually within 3-5 working days subject to availability. The same team, who takes your order will roll, inspect and cut it, so accuracy and quality can be assured.

HOW TO MEASURE UP FOR YOUR ROMAN BLINDS

INSIDE A WINDOW RECESS

Width: Measure across the recess at several points and give the narrowest measurement minus 1cm for clearance so the blind will run freely (see E on the diagram)

Length: Measure from the top of the recess to the bottom (see E on the diagram)

OUTSIDE A WINDOW RECESS

Width: Measure the width of the recess and add at least 5cms on each side for overlapping (see F on the diagram)

Length: Measure from the required starting position above the window to the length you require, adding 5cms on the length
