Made to Measure Roman Blinds

‘Harris Tweeds are the embodiment of the perfect natural woollen product.’

Is wool a good choice for Roman Blinds?

On the tiny islands of Harris and Lewis, our rustic collection of Harris Tweed is specially handcrafted for Vanessa. 100% Scottish wool is used in the weaving of the soft and exquisite tweeds. Upholstery can become pilled, like with other wool products, however, the bobbles can be eliminated by using a fabric shaver. The colours are astounding, appearing to be a single shade until you look closer and realise that they are actually made up of various delicate hues that all mirror the Hebridean environment in its natural state.

Our woollen Harris Tweed texture lends itself wonderfully to a space that needs more warmth, or in fact, a tactile variation from the other fabrics already in place. In order to increase insulation and benefit from it during the cooler months, add interlining to your woollen Roman blind.

If you wanted, you could also use the wool in other parts of the space, such as on pillows, which would tie everything together and make the space feel more coherent.

The Tweeds are an excellent weight, making them appropriate for Roman Blinds, Cushions, Quilts, and more. They can also be used for light upholstery, although like all 100% wool products, they tend to pill and fade when exposed to sunlight for extended periods of time

Please ask for fabric samples and see the colours in your rooms. If you order a half metre returnable sample you can drape it over an existing chair or pin it to your present blinds and see how it looks.

Each bespoke Roman Blind is beautifully made in our workshops by professionals, and hand finished with great care and attention. Our makers use traditional methods and take real pride in what they do. With Made to Measure, there is no need to compromise; you can create a unique look with your choice of fabric and those important finishing touches that will complement and co-ordinate your home.

HOW TO MEASURE UP FOR YOUR ROMAN BLINDS

INSIDE A WINDOW RECESS

Width: Measure across the recess at several points and give the narrowest measurement minus 1cm for clearance so the blind will run freely (see E on the diagram)

Length: Measure from the top of the recess to the bottom (see E on the diagram)

OUTSIDE A WINDOW RECESS

Width: Measure the width of the recess and add at least 5cms on each side for overlapping (see F on the diagram)

Length: Measure from the required starting position above the window to the length you require, adding 5cms on the length
