Made to Measure Roman Blinds for a living room

Roman Blinds are a smart choice for both contemporary and traditional living rooms. A living room is a space for relaxing and socializing in, often space is tight and window sills are needed for storage, making Roman Blinds the perfect solution for the window dressing.

All our fabrics are suitable for differing styles of living room, from contemporary to traditional, a room can feel swamped by material if curtains are chosen for every window so choose roman blinds for some.

Can you choose a matching pelmet to cover the top of the roman blind?

Yes pelemts are available to order in matching or complementary styles for your roman blind.

Pelmets work for Roman Blinds going on the outside of a recess.

In our Made to Measure service we offer perfectly pattern matched pelmets to cover the mechanism at the top of the blind which is made from a wooden board covered in fabric. This is a simple pelmet 10cm deep with 8cm returns, an easy, cost effective option to hide the sides of the metal track or wooden batten.

Which fabrics can you choose from your range for a traditional living room?

Flora and Fauna, and Cow Parsley are amongst many of our beautiful linens that are perfect for a sitting room. These designs have matching and coordinating prints for covering the sofas, chairs and footstools. For ease, use our Made to Measure service to make your Roman Blinds, and add in some matching lampshades too.

The Artisan Collection, with designs such as Origami, Shibori, Momo and Japonica, all create a modern feel and are also very well suited to Roman Blinds.

Here's how to weigh up the pros and cons of roman blinds vs curtains or roller blinds?

How big can you make roman blinds?

For blinds going on a wooden batten, the maximum would be 130cm wide and 150cm drop.

For rotary chain tracks, it would be 240cm wide and 240cm drop.

Contrast borders

Think about using a contrasting colour for a border on the bottom edge of the blind, or even all three edges (left, right and bottom). You can choose a fabric of your choice for this, be it a complementary Plain Linen Union, or a pinted fabric design for extra impact - All of these can be made for you through our Made to Measure service.

HOW TO MEASURE UP FOR YOUR ROMAN BLINDS

INSIDE A WINDOW RECESS

Width: Measure across the recess at several points and give the narrowest measurement minus 1cm for clearance so the blind will run freely (see E on the diagram)

Length: Measure from the top of the recess to the bottom (see E on the diagram)

OUTSIDE A WINDOW RECESS

Width: Measure the width of the recess and add at least 5cms on each side for overlapping (see F on the diagram)

Length: Measure from the required starting position above the window to the length you require, adding 5cms on the length
