Big Windows Fabrics Upholstery Fabrics
How do I dress a big window? Should I choose curtains or blinds for my large window?
There are no rules for choosing fabrics for big windows. Large patterns though are a good choice, for example Gypsy Garland, a very delicate vertical design that lends itself well to curtains. The gentle trellis of Fruit Garden scales up the design and creates a fabric very suitable for large windows. Equally Pretty Maids with its timeless spot motif makes stunning curtains or blinds for large windows. Our design: Up the Garden Path makes beautiful big curtains and being a one colour print creates a simple Scandinavian look.
As far as the best way to dress a large window we would suggest a rail with a pull cord so you can draw the curtains open more easily; alternatively, a good quality pole that has been well waxed to aid the opening and closing of the curtains. Interlining is essential to add body to the curtains and they must be full length, but if you have a radiator in the way maybe a Roman blind is the best choice. Alternatively, if you can’t reach the top of the window at all easily, a roller blind with a pelmet to hide the roll might be the right choice.
We can make both curtains and blinds as part of our Made to Measure service.
All our fabrics are printed in the UK on a good weight of 100% Linen, and Linen Union, making them suitable for lampshades, curtains, blinds, cushions, and upholstery. We hold a good stock of all our fabrics ensuring delivery is usually within 3-5 working days subject to availability. The same team, who takes your order will roll, inspect and cut it, so accuracy and quality can be assured.
