When should I choose Roller Blinds for my bedroom?

Particular bedrooms with specific windows suit Roller Blinds, for example, a more contemporary setting. If you do not have room for curtains, blinds are the answer. Roller Blinds have the additional option of a pelmet, which conceals the roll of the blind sitting at the top which displays the reverse lining, and is perfectly pattern matched to your blind. Depending on the measurements, they can used in more rooms of the house and enable full use of a window sill. A Made to Measure Roller Blind is also really handy for a difficult to reach window. A Roller Blind is like a picture when pulled down: a flat surface suits a pictorial design like our Wild and Free, or By the Sea prints, particularly fun for children's rooms!

Which of your fabrics do you think suits a bedroom?

Our best-selling fabrics for bedroom Roller Blinds are Cow Parsley, Down to Earth, Stockholm Stripe, Wild Fern, and Fruit Garden. Another alternative is the larger pattern of Herbaceous Border Detail, which is a classic soft coloured bedroom fabric, especially for large windows.

Favourite colours for decorating a bedroom are Duck Egg, Hay, Buttercup, Pigeon, Powder Blue, and Damson pink.

Pros for choosing Roller Blinds:

GREAT FOR INSIDE A RECESS – Roller Blinds are a great option if you want to install a blind inside a recess because they are really easy to fit, lightweight, practical, easily adjustable with beaded chains (or ivory cord), and visually very stylish.

PELMETS - if you have your blind inside a recess, you can choose to have a smart, perfectly pattern matched pelmet that covers the roll at the top revealing the reverse lining; this is approximately 11 cm deep. It has revolutionised the use of Roller Blinds, making them much more attractive and usable in all rooms of a house!

MAXIMUM LIGHT – if you want to allow in as much natural light as possible, Roller Blinds may be the better option over Roman Blinds. With Roller Blinds, the fabric rolls up at the top of your window and will take up about 9 cm of space.

CENTRAL PULL – with a Roller Blind you can have a centre pull which can be handy on a window behind the kitchen sink. This comes with an ivory coloured cord and wooden acorn.

LOWER MAINTENANCE – once you have pulled up a Roman Blind you sometimes have to handle the folds as they can get caught in the cords, you don’t have this problem with Roller Blinds. It is just one piece of fabric that is adjusted with either a continuous beaded chain to either the left or right hand side of the blind, or as previously mentioned, a centre pull.

TREATMENT OPTIONS - We offer three different finishings on our Roller Blinds: Laminate, Blackout, and Processed. The laminated backing is a lining bonded onto the face of the fabric (no lamination takes place to the face fabric). Blackout is an off-white lining, which again is bonded to the fabric but is ideal for privacy. And Processed is just the fabric on its own with that has a clear stiffening spray applied to it for rigidness.

STYLISH IN DESIGN - You have a lot of creative freedom when it comes to the finished look of your Roller Blind. In addition to a pelmet, you can also add a 5 cm contrasting bottom border. Any of our other fabrics can be used for this, for example Gypsy Garland in Dove, with a bottom border in Stockholm Stripe - Dove, Winter. You could also opt for a Plain Linen Union in Saffron border instead, to go with the Gypsy, depending on the other colours in your room. The choice is yours to coordinate as you see fit!

Which of your fabrics would you recommend for a bathroom?

Traditionally people like decorating with blues, greens, and greys in bathrooms, but any colour goes! You may have a painting or accessory in your bathroom that you really like the colour of, so why not itegrate it into your blind? If you don't want too much of the colour on show, don't worry, go subtle with a bottom border to give that hint/pop of colour, really helps to tie everything in together nicely.

Our best-selling fabrics for bathrooms are our stripes, especially the Stockholm Stripe, and French Ticking. The bathroom is often where bolder fabrics such as Flora and Fauna in Charcoal, and Up the Garden Path in Winter, can create a stunning effect.
