Made to Measure Curtains

Do you have any spotted fabrics for making into curtains?

More than any other pattern, spotted fabrics have a natural freshness that can lift any scheme in seconds. Be it a traditional or modern, bedroom or bathroom, by adding a wall of spots, spotted made to measure curtains, or covering a favourite chair in circles, your home will take on a charming, classic vibe that will never date.

Our spotted patterns are timeless. In fact one of my most popular spotty curtain fabrics is my award-winning Pretty Maids, (House and Garden award winner). This comes in many, many colours, like  pretty maids dove winter and pretty maids winter fabric that can coordinate with most of my main designs.

Check out the Swedish fabric collection for all of our pretty maids fabrics.

Plain Dotty has a very subtle but relaxed design to it, available in Duck Egg and Cornflower blues. I've also used in the backgrounds of my Cockerel and Spot, and Acorn and Leaf designs!

In my May Blossom, the spots are made from an organic seed head shape. There are seven colourway options ranging from Peach to Plum. All are suitable as upholstery fabric.

What is your spotted fabric best used for?

Spots are undeniably fresh and fun, so are perfect for any room in the house. It is a lovely gender-neutral choice, too, for children’s rooms. My spotted fabric is a timeless choice for curtains and will last for years being easy on the eye.

Don’t keep spots and dots simply for the younger members of the family, as dotty fabrics and wallpapers can add a grown-up blast of chic.

What colours and design options work best with your spotted curtain fabric range?

Yellow spotted fabrics can add energy to any room in the house. Spots work effortlessly with all sorts of my other patterns, including florals, geometric shapes, and stripes.

Please ask for fabric samples and see the colours in your rooms. If you order a half metre returnable sample you can pin it to your present curtains and see how it looks. All our fabrics are printed in the UK on a good weight of 100% Linen and Linen Union making them suitable for curtains, blinds, cushions and upholstery. We hold a good stock of all our fabrics ensuring delivery is usually within 3-5 working days, with an overnight service available by phone call request. The same team who takes your order will roll, inspect and cut it, so accuracy and quality can be assured.

How to measure up for your curtains:

A video guide to help you measure up

Please remember that pattern repeats and fabric widths are automatically calculated if you order through our website. It is advisable to fit your pole or track before ordering your curtains. Your pole or track should ideally extend 30cms on each side of the window so when drawn back light is maximised and at least 15cms above the top of the window to block out as little light as possible again. Please use metric units only when measuring.

Poles:

WidthIf you have a pole, measure the distance between the finials. (A)

Finished Length for pencil pleat, triple pleat and double pleat - when measuring the finished length using a curtain pole, we recommend allowing between 2cms and 5cms above the eyelet on the underside of the curtain ring, depending on how much of the pole and rings you wish to hide. From the measurement you choose above the eyelet, measure down to the bottom of the hem (see B & C) and that is your finished length measurement.

Finished length for cottage pleat (choice of either 5cm or 10cm depth)- these have to be made using a 3cm single position tape, which makes the finished length non adjustable. To measure the finished length for this header, please provide us with the distance from the eyelet to the floor, and depending on your choice of depth, add 5cm or 10cm accordingly.

Finished length for flop over frill - these curtains have to be made with a 3cm single position tape which makes the finished length non adjustable. To measure the finished length for this header, just give us the measurement from the eyelet to the floor. Don't add any extra for the frill, we will do that.

Please note, we will add 25cm for hem allowance.

Tracks

Width - If you have a track, measure the total length of the track, including any overlap where the curtains meet in the middle.

Finished length: For pencil pleat, triple pleat and double pleat - when measuring the finished length of your curtains using a track add 1cm above the track (to hide the track) down to the bottom of the hem. (D)*

Finished length for flop over frill curtains - these have to made with a one inch single position tape which makes the finished length non-adjustable. To get your finished length measurement, just give us the measurement from the eyelet to the floor and don't add any extra for the frill as we will do this.

Please note, we will add 30cms for hem allowance.
