Which fabrics are best suited to kitchen roller blinds?

Many fabrics can be used to make wonderful kitchen roller blinds, such as the Fruit Garden, Lattice Leaf, Up the Garden Path and Cow Parsley.

The Fruit Garden comes in a lovely array of brightly coloured backgrounds, ranging from Plum purple, Peach, Damson pink,  and Buttercup yellow. This design comes with a cream background and coloured trellis design, which is the Fruit Garden Detail.

Can you get a Roller Blind with a centre pull?

Yes, we can make you a Roller Blind with a central pull. These are so handy for windows behind a kitchen sink to pull the blind up and down using the spring loaded mechanism. It's the ideal option for blinds going inside small recesses as you don't have the extra space being taken up with beaded chains resting at the side. 

Pros for choosing Roller Blinds:

GREAT FOR INSIDE A RECESS – Roller Blinds are a great option if you want to install a blind inside a recess because they are really easy to fit, lightweight, practical, easily adjustable with beaded chains (or ivory cord), and visually very stylish.

PELMETS - if you have your blind inside a recess, you can choose to have a smart, perfectly pattern matched pelmet that covers the roll at the top revealing the reverse lining; this is approximately 11 cm deep. It has revolutionised the use of Roller Blinds, making them much more attractive and usable in all rooms of a house!

MAXIMUM LIGHT – if you want to allow in as much natural light as possible, Roller Blinds may be the better option over Roman Blinds. With Roller Blinds, the fabric rolls up at the top of your window and will take up about 9 cm of space.

CENTRAL PULL – with a Roller Blind you can have a centre pull which can be handy on a window behind the kitchen sink. This comes with an ivory coloured cord and wooden acorn.

LOWER MAINTENANCE – once you have pulled up a Roman Blind you sometimes have to handle the folds as they can get caught in the cords, you don’t have this problem with Roller Blinds. It is just one piece of fabric that is adjusted with either a continuous beaded chain to either the left or right hand side of the blind, or as previously mentioned, a centre pull.

TREATMENT OPTIONS - We offer three different finishings on our Roller Blinds: Laminate, Blackout, and Processed. The laminated backing is a lining bonded onto the face of the fabric (no lamination takes place to the face fabric). Blackout is an off-white lining, which again is bonded to the fabric but is ideal for privacy. And Processed is just the fabric on its own with that has a clear stiffening spray applied to it for rigidness.

STYLISH IN DESIGN - You have a lot of creative freedom when it comes to the finished look of your Roller Blind. In addition to a pelmet, you can also add a 5 cm contrasting bottom border. Any of our other fabrics can be used for this, for example, Gypsy Garland in Dove, with a bottom border in Stockholm Stripe - Dove, Winter. You could also opt for a Plain Linen Union in Saffron border instead, to go with the Gypsy, depending on the other colours in your room. The choice is yours to coordinate as you see fit!

How big can you make a kitchen Roller Blind?

The maximum size for a roller blind we can create for you is 240cm x 240cm.

Why is a Roller Blind a good choice for a kitchen?

A Roller Blind is a good choice for a kitchen because it can be inside a window recess and still enable you to use the window sills. A Roller Blind has a flat surface, so helps to facilitate a good exposure of colour and pattern in a room.

If you choose to place a Roller Blind in a kitchen outside the recess a pelmet can be made to match it to hide the top roll; the top of the roll is where the reverse lining is visible.

Striped roller blinds have been and remain a popular choice for installation in kitchens.
