The Orchard Fabric Collection

A reflection of Vanessa's continuing passion for stylized organic shapes

This is my 17th collection, the 'Orchard' Fabric Collection.

One of my all-time heroines is Lucienne Day, and I was fortunate enough to sponsor an exhibition at the New Brewery Arts, near my showroom and office here in Cirencester. I also participated in an inspiring mark-making workshop, where we cut up coloured paper into shapes, and then played around with their layout, producing linear, graphic and floral motifs in homage to Lucienne. It was this that really fired me when designing 'Orchard' and I hope I have done her justice with my prints!

Designs include Fruit Garden, Fruit Garden Detail, and May Blossom, which show a continuing passion for stylized, organic shapes. Another design includes Sepals and Petals, a really simple and stylish print created by my daughter, Flora.

The Orchard Collection comprises of 20 colourways, printed onto 100% linen woven in Lancashire using Belgium flax. This is the first collection where Plum and Peach have been used, colours that have subsequently been used in other collections and have proven to be very popular!
