Made to Measure Designer Cushions

The landscape that Vanessa surrounds herself with is a constant source of inspiration for her fabrics. As spring arrives, bringing gardens and countryside's "back to life" with the signature colour of yellows from the gorgeous daffodils, so do Vanessa's fabrics that are reminiscent of these wonderful colours.

The striking Song Birds fabric in the vivid Buttercup yellow colourway is one of Vanessa's favourite fabrics from the past month. This is the ideal option if you're hoping to have cushions made up in a colour that will instantly brighten your space and invite the outdoors in. Over the years, we have created numerous bespoke cushions for our wonderful customers using this design. We also used contrasting fabrics as finishing touches to help create a one-of-a-kind, personalised cushion that perfectly matched their design schemes.

Considering that this design uses both Clay and Charcoal greys, how about using one of these plain or printed fabrics for your contrast piping? Even more options include flange, contrast pleats, reversing on a double-sided cushion, and much more. The choices are endless but what remains is the statement made on your cushions with this lovely design punctuating warmth in your room. The Stockholm Stripe is Vanessa's second favourite fabric. Though it majors in Dove grey, there is a hint of yellow in the thinner lines that run parallel to the grey, which are interspersed with delicate grey dots. Not as bright as Buttercup, but still able to warm up the fabric well, is Saffron, which is more of a rich golden yellow. In general, stripes are seen to be a timeless and extremely adaptable pattern that can be used in almost any space in your home as long as your colour choices are sufficiently neutral. An excellent example of this is the Stockholm Stripe. Depending on whether you choose complementary or coordinating fabrics, the available contrast finishings can also serve to enhance or subdue the colour of your cushions. For instance, to keep your cushion looking neutral, you could use Charcoal Plain Linen Union for the piping, or add a Saffron fabric to make it look brighter. When creating your mood board, always make sure you're considering all of your alternatives because even the most basic changes can make a big difference.

The yellow cushions shown below have contrast piping, and while they're not made of the exact fabrics indicated above, they nonetheless beautifully capture the elegant appearances of our hand-made cushions when completed.
