Made to Measure Curtains

Can you make Made to Measure yellow curtains for me?

Yellow curtains can brighten any room and help you think of flowers, lemons, and sunshine. Yellow fabrics for curtains can offer a fres finish especially in our many variations on yellow shades and patterns.

What could be more inviting than a brightly coloured curtain fabric and a scattering of yellow cushion covers to welcome you home? The colour of eternal summer, we can’t think of any shade we would rather come home to on a bleak winter’s day – or better, a warm spring evening.

Saffron, this beautiful strong shade of gold yellow fabric is fresh enough and strong enough to make beautiful yellow curtains and sit happily with darker shades of grey, such as winter, Charcoal and Scree. It works particularly well for living room curtains.

The following designs encompass these yellow and soft grey colours: Gypsy Garland, Origami, Shibori, Stockholm Stripe and Pretty Maids.

Our softer Buttercup yellow, is the perfect partner for the gentler blue-grey Clay with added accents of Charcoal, this combination of yellow and grey striped fabric is very pretty for kitchen, bathroom and bedroom curtains, exemplified in the designs Song Birds, Fruit Garden and French Ticking.

Hay is the softest yellow, beautiful for elegant sitting rooms or bedroom curtains. See Fern and Dragonfly, Down to Earth, and Paisley Ground, with coordinating Lapland Stripe.

Sand yellow reflects the colour of golden beaches and can be more sophisticated in a sitting room or dining room, adding warmth without the brightness through sandy yellow upholstery and curtains.

With Straw, we have moved towards a mustard yellow as seen in Fruit Garden design. The mustard and grey upholstery fabrics add that warmth and light to a room.

Which of your patterns and fabric colours go well with yellow?

Vanessa has teamed Straw and Sand yellows, with Pigeon grey, and Powder Blue and Cornflower blues, to counterbalance the warmth of the yellow with the cool of the blues. So, plenty of colours to build the scheme around in your sitting rooms and halls. The counter-balance between the warmth and cheerfulness of the yellow and the cool greys and blues is perfect. A grey and yellow interior creates happiness and warmth, and is spectacular in the evening when the sun is going down and the fire is lit.

How to measure up for your curtains:

A video guide to help you measure up

Please remember that pattern repeats and fabric widths are automatically calculated if you order through our website. It is advisable to fit your pole or track before ordering your curtains. Your pole or track should ideally extend 30cms on each side of the window so when drawn back light is maximised and at least 15cms above the top of the window to block out as little light as possible again. Please use metric units only when measuring.

Poles:

WidthIf you have a pole, measure the distance between the finials. (A)

Finished Length for pencil pleat, triple pleat and double pleat - when measuring the finished length using a curtain pole, we recommend allowing between 2cms and 5cms above the eyelet on the underside of the curtain ring, depending on how much of the pole and rings you wish to hide. From the measurement you choose above the eyelet, measure down to the bottom of the hem (see B & C) and that is your finished length measurement.

Finished length for cottage pleat (choice of either 5cm or 10cm depth)- these have to be made using a 3cm single position tape, which makes the finished length non adjustable. To measure the finished length for this header, please provide us with the distance from the eyelet to the floor, and depending on your choice of depth, add 5cm or 10cm accordingly.

Finished length for flop over frill - these curtains have to be made with a 3cm single position tape which makes the finished length non adjustable. To measure the finished length for this header, just give us the measurement from the eyelet to the floor. Don't add any extra for the frill, we will do that.

Please note, we will add 25cm for hem allowance.

Tracks

Finished length: For pencil pleat, triple pleat and double pleat - when measuring the finished length of your curtains using a track add 1cm above the track (to hide the track) down to the bottom of the hem. (D)*

Finished length for cottage pleat (choice of either 5cm or 10cm depth)- these have to be made using a 3cm single position tape, which makes the finished length non adjustable.
