How to measure up for your Roller Blind:

Inside a window recess

Width: Measure the width of the recess from the left to the right (see E on the diagram)

Length: Measure from the top of the recess to the bottom (see E on the diagram)

YOU ONLY NEED TO PROVIDE US WITH THE FULL RECESS MEASUREMENT - the maker will allow for the rolling mechanism when making the blinds (There will be a gap of about 1.5cm between the fabric and the recess wall which will allow some light through, even with a blackout lining)

Outside a window recess

Width: Measure the outside of the window recess (see F on diagram) and add at least 5cms on each side to minimise any light leaking through.

Length: Measure from the required position above the window (we recommend adding at least 5cm), to the length you require (see F on the diagram)

This also applies to blinds that will be fitted to the outside of a door recess, we only need the width and length that you would like the finished blind to be.

Please note that if your roller blind is outside the recess, we have to allow for the mechanism at either side of the roller blind, which is usually 1.5cm each side. For example, if you want the fabric width of your blind to measure 100cm, you need to specify this upon placing your order as 'finished fabric width', otherwise our makers will assume it is the recess width, and cut the fabric down to 97cm with the remaining 3cm for the mechanism, i.e. 100cm full fabric width + 3cm for mechanism, making the final recess width 103cm.

Your Roller blinds will be delivered complete with hanging instructions and fittings.

Chain options

Left: Ivory Cord - available for both side and centre pulls. Please note that the centre pull option for a Roller Blind, has a minimum width of 43cm.

Middle: A choice of beads in the following order (top to bottom): Brass, Gun Metal, Pewter, Chrome Beads, Antique Bronze.

Right: We do offer a centre pull option for Roller blinds, this always comes with an ivory cord and wooden acorn.

Reverse Rolled

The fabric falls forward on reverse rolled binds, thus concealing the white roll at the top which displays the reverse lining (not applicable for processed blinds). When considering protruding windows/door handles, taps, etc., the reverse rolled option is a better choice than standard rolled, and also produces a cleaner, more minimalist aesthetic. *133 cm is the maximum width for a processed roller blind, subject to the usable width of the fabric you've selected.

Standard Rolled

Standard rolled blinds have the fabric positioned closer to the window, preventing draughts, blocking more light, and preventing anything on the sill from being knocked. If you would rather not see the white roll at the top displaying the reverse lining, another option is to cover it with a pelmet that matches the design (see image on the right).

Your blind can be Laminated, or Processed;

The Laminated lining is white in colour and is adhered to the reverse of the main fabric.

A Processed blind will have no linings applied, instead, the fabric is just on its own and has a clear stiffening spray applied to it for rigidness. The maximum width for a processed blind is 133cm.

Processed blind

For normal rolled options, these pelmets have been made to hide the white roll that reveals the reverse lining at the top. It creates a seamless finish because the design is perfectly pattern matched to the blinds fabric.

This only applies to roller blinds that are installed inside of a recess.

If you would like just one pelmet to cover multiple Roller Blinds, then please call us to discuss this further. If you would like the same fabric for the blind and pelmet, then depending on the pattern, it may not be perfectly aligned. However, we do our best to get it as closely aligned as possible. As an alternative, think about using a fabric for the pelmet from our Plain Linen Union collection that, if you would like, could match the bottom border of your blind and give it a more unified look.

Measuring on a splayed recess

If your recess has any angle to it, you must measure the width of the area where the pelmet will sit (the location of the pelmet within the recess is up to you), and include the measurement as your "finished pelmet width" in your purchase.

We provide bottom borders for all Roller Blinds. All of our fabrics are suitable for bottom borders, for example you could choose a colour to complement your blind fabric, or, a contrasting fabric altogether that brings in a colour seen elsewhere in the room; the choice is yours!
