Made to Measure Roman Blinds

Vanessa has chosen two fabrics from the Artisan Collection as her favourite fabrics for this past month, both are called Origami, a multi directional fabric, ideal for Roman blinds.

The brighter version of the two is the Indigo and Kale, a beautiful mix of green and blue. There are other Plain Linen Union, and printed/patterned fabrics in these colours that you could use on your blind to add a point of difference, such as a border, or a contrast pelmet, (See below for more information on this).

The darker Charcoal and Indigo can create a distinctive blind that features perfectly in your room; better suited for larger rooms where the darker colour won’t make the space feel smaller than it is.

For Roman blinds that sit outside recesses, we offer pattern-matched pelmets. This is mostly because of the side returns and flat top, which works to specifically conceal the track at the top. Additionally, we can add borders to the Roman blind, which is positioned all around on the left, bottom, and right sides of the main blind fabric, or simply on the bottom. Why not add a contrast fabric to the back of your blind for an even more custom and distinctive look? This is the finishing touch you need for a standout look, but you can use any fabric of your choice if you want a design to be seen from the outside looking in.

HOW TO MEASURE UP FOR YOUR ROMAN BLINDS

INSIDE A WINDOW RECESS

Width: Measure across the recess at several points and give the narrowest measurement minus 1cm for clearance so the blind will run freely (see E on the diagram)

Length: Measure from the top of the recess to the bottom (see E on the diagram)

OUTSIDE A WINDOW RECESS

Width: Measure the width of the recess and add at least 5cms on each side for overlapping (see F on the diagram)

Length: Measure from the required starting position above the window to the length you require, adding 5cms on the length
