Made to Measure Roman Blinds

Yellow is the colour which makes me think of flowers, lemons, and sunshine.

What could be more inviting than a fresh yellow roman blind along with a scattering of yellow cushion covers to welcome you home? The colour of summer, we can’t think of any shade we would rather come home to on a bleak winter’s day – or better, a warm spring evening.

Saffron, this beautiful strong shade of gold yellow fabric is fresh enough and strong enough to make beautiful yellow roman blinds and mix with darker shades of grey, such as Winter, Charcoal and Scree. These colours look particularly great in living rooms and kitchens.

The following designs encompass these yellow and soft grey colours: Gypsy Garland, Origami, Shibori, Stockholm Stripe and Pretty Maids.

The counter-balance between the warmth and cheerfulness of the yellow and the cool greys is perfect.

Hay is the softest yellow, beautiful for elegant sitting rooms or bedroom curtains. See Fern and Dragonfly and coordinating Lapland Stripe.

Sand yellow reflects the colour of golden beaches can be more sophisticated in a sitting room of dining room, adding warmth without the brightness through sandy yellow upholstery and curtains. See the Sand in the designs Cow Parsley with coordinating Stripe and Dash. This colour coordinates beautifully with blues.

With the Straw colourway, Vanessa has moved towards a mustard yellow as in Fruit Garden and Sepals, Petals and Acorn and Leaf. The mustard and grey upholstery fabrics add that warmth and light to a room.

Which of your patterns and fabric colours go well with yellow Roman Blinds?

Vanessa has teamed the Straw and Sand yellows with Pigeon and Cornflower blues.

The softer Buttercup yellow, is the perfect partner for the gentler blue-grey Clay with added accents of Charcoal, this combination of yellow and grey striped fabrics is exemplified in the designs Song Birds, Fruit Garden and French Ticking. Make some cushions to match and coordinate with your yellow roman blinds.

Please ask for fabric samples and see the colours in your rooms.

HOW TO MEASURE UP FOR YOUR ROMAN BLINDS

INSIDE A WINDOW RECESS

Width: Measure across the recess at several points and give the narrowest measurement minus 1cm for clearance so the blind will run freely (see E on the diagram)

Length: Measure from the top of the recess to the bottom (see E on the diagram)

OUTSIDE A WINDOW RECESS

Width: Measure the width of the recess and add at least 5cms on each side for overlapping (see F on the diagram)

Length: Measure from the required starting position above the window to the length you require, adding 5cms on the length
