Vanessa can still remember the curtains in her bedroom when she was a little girl. Even very small children are so observant and have to time to gaze and day dream so it is important to give them pictorial fabrics to feed their wonderful, creative imaginations. Children lie awake in bed more than we do and are eager to look around and absorb their surroundings.

Vanessa's eldest daughter, Rose, drew all the animals in the Wild and Free design, and took inspiration found on cave drawings and Etruscan cases, drawn during many visits to the British Museum. If that won’t feed the imagination of little ones I’m not sure what will! Also, her younger daughter Flora created the fun design, Bird Hop.

There is a lot to look at in the scenic design of "By the Sea," which has houses, sailing boats, lighthouses, and people strolling with their dogs; Vanessa's husband drew these images after a weekend visit to Mousehole in Cornwall.

If you make curtains for your nurseries with these designs they will grow with the children, they are not exclusively for ‘little people’ and you won’t have to change the curtains as they grow up...children become very attached to the familiar.

These designs are printed on beautiful linen and come in lots of gorgeous colours and for me fit the bill.

Children's bedrooms and playrooms can look really wonderful with full length curtains, they can brighten up and transform any children’s bedroom, playroom or nursery.

You can choose from different headings, although we prefer a cottage pleat header for children’s playrooms and bedrooms, being soft and pretty. It is also worth mentioning lining here. Interlining helps insulate and keep the room warm, and blackout lining can be added to discourage early morning waking.

Pretty Maids and Stockholm Stripe all coordinate beautifully with them and work well as coordinates for a chair, cushion or bed head.

Blackout curtains can be useful for young children to help them to sleep longer in early morning.
