Made to Measure Roman Blinds

Are roman blinds suitable for a dining room?

Roman Blinds are a good choice for dining rooms. They are simple and smart. If you have small children they can't reach them with sticky fingers!

All of Vanessa's fabrics make excellent quality Roman Blinds. The 100% Linens and Linen Unions are a good fabric weight for blind making. If you want to keep use of your window sills, choose a roman blind outside the recess and add a smart pelmet to hide the mechanism from sight, (the metal track or wooden batten can be seen at the sides).

Which of your fabrics would look good in a dining room?

The more formal fabrics such as Stockholm Stripe, and Stripe and Dash make smart choices, especially used in combination with bold paint colours.

Harris Tweed which is made from 100% British wool and with the addition of interlining makes very cosy and warm roman blinds. We would recommend adding a border of a different coloured tweed.

You could add colour in a dining room by upholstering seats of chairs to match or coordinate with the blinds.

We can make these Roman Blinds especially for you through our Made to Measure service. They are made in our local UK workshops and delivered to your door. This keeps their carbon footprint as low as possible, and as well as only using organic cotton in our Linen Union, we are aiming for products that are as ecological as possible.

HOW TO MEASURE UP FOR YOUR ROMAN BLINDS

INSIDE A WINDOW RECESS

Width: Measure across the recess at several points and give the narrowest measurement minus 1cm for clearance so the blind will run freely (see E on the diagram)

Length: Measure from the top of the recess to the bottom (see E on the diagram)

OUTSIDE A WINDOW RECESS

Width: Measure the width of the recess and add at least 5cms on each side for overlapping (see F on the diagram)

Length: Measure from the required starting position above the window to the length you require, adding 5cms on the length
