Made to Measure Roman Blinds

Have you got striped fabric for making into Roman Blinds?

Striped fabrics are timeless, and unlike bolder patterned fabrics, you will never tire of them. Whether you have a traditional, modern or contemporary home, decorating with stripes is a great way to bring some order and colour to your room.

Striped fabrics are a very good coordinate and mix well with plains, florals, and other patterns. Striped soft furnishing fabrics can be elegant when they're tone-on-tone, wild when they're bright and bold, and also classic when the stripes are the same width. The popular vertical striped fabrics include Stockholm Stripe, French Ticking, Floral Stripe, Lapland Stripe, Stripe and Dash, Simple Ticking Details and Baltic Stripe.

How to incorporate stripey designs around the house

Striped Roman Blinds have a very Scandinavian, casual, and nautical look. They are great for living rooms, bedrooms and studies. Think about adding in some scatter cushions or lampshades for a few more striped patterns on a lower scale to the blinds.

What colours do your striped roman blind fabrics come in?

Our stripes come in all different colours. I mix Teal blue green with Lime green, Scree grey with Soft Cornflower blue, Saffron yellow with Charcoal greys, and many many more.

We also have a range of stripes in the Scandinavian Style Collection, which is woven on hand looms in a beautiful mid-weight Linen.

What other patterns complement and contrast with your striped fabric?

Striped fabrics look great contrasted with the spots of Pretty Maids. Also, each stripe is designed to coordinate with the other prints in the collections to which they belong. For instance the Stockholm Stripe with Dawn Chorus, and French Ticking with Flora and Fauna.

Borders - You can add a 5 cm contrasting bottom border, or an all-round border on the right, left, and bottom edge of the blind. Any of Vanessa's fabrics can be used for this, for example Gypsy Garland in Dove, with a bottom border in Stockholm Stripe - Dove, Winter, or Pretty Maids in Dove and Winter. Plain linen unions also make great borders for Roman Blinds.

Roman Blinds can be made for you through our Made to Measure service with fabrics printed in the UK on a good weight of 100% Linen and Linen Unions. We hold a good stock of all our fabrics.

HOW TO MEASURE UP FOR YOUR ROMAN BLINDS

INSIDE A WINDOW RECESS

Width: Measure across the recess at several points and give the narrowest measurement minus 1cm for clearance so the blind will run freely (see E on the diagram)

Length: Measure from the top of the recess to the bottom (see E on the diagram)

OUTSIDE A WINDOW RECESS

Width: Measure the width of the recess and add at least 5cms on each side for overlapping (see F on the diagram)

Length: Measure from the required starting position above the window to the length you require, adding 5cms on the length
